  I have all the Brooklyn Eagle articles on the tax issue for the WatchTower property in Brooklyn. As I said before there is a folder out there with all of this in it. It isn't my problem that you can’t find it. That the city of Brooklyn denied tax exemption is not proof that he "dodged" taxes. Any church can apply for tax exemption. What you won’t find in the Eagle articles is the reversal of the county/city decision.

  The Eagle articles may be a good starting point, but they are a poor resource on their own.

  The family that started the Eagle was Catholic. In the Russell era, its city editor, principal reporter, and several important managers were catholic. This is easily found. Did you look? Apparently not. Too hard for you? Do you really think you attract help with vitriol? Others here and elsewhere have documents, the original documents or at least copies of them that might further your arguments, but it is unlikely that you will pry them out of anyone given your lack of civility.

  None of your speculation is proof. it is just speculation. Of course they aren't original signatures. This is the document of record copied into the record by a clerk. It is apparent that all you have in your inventory is wild speculation. Speculation isn't proof. Give us proof. I'll send you a dozen cookies.

  I can think of several good business reasons to use the United States Investment Company as a financial vehicle, none of them nefarious.

  Given the official paper, the original court document, it would be impossible for any of the trustees to have not known of Russell's involvement, no matter what the Brooklyn Eagle claimed. Wild claims and nonsense speculation as found in these posts hurt our cause. And they're stupid.

  since the faithful and discreet slave class now opposes higher education because it allegedly brings with it 'bad association', i wonder what their take is on online education.

  let's remember that distance education was pioneered by fundamentalist saudi arabia and apartheid south africa for the very reasons that the jehovah's witnesses criticize higher education.

  my wife is one of the faithful and i fear for our kids future, that they will see no point in keeping their grades up.

  An additional thought: The Watchtower fears bad association far less than exposure to ideas they reject. They kill any native reasoning ability for the sake of sectarian unity, leaving Witnesses incapable of reasoning through new material. Rational thought and Watchtower belief are not compatible.

  I agree with Band on the Run. A significant part of education is interaction with your instructor and with fellow students. However, if one must seek online instruction there are a few good regionally accredited programs. Western Governors University is one. Several high class universities offer part distance learning. Check with your state universities first. Another approach is to mix challenge tests and class room attendance. Some universities offer an assesment of prior learning, credit for life experience.

  I don't know the current status of the program, but back in the day U. of Illinois had a quality distance program.

  At the time of the 1911 trial, the Brooklyn Eagle was Catholic leaning and noted for Yellow Journalism. One can't ignore its articles, but they are extremely biased, not just religiously but politically. Using the Eagle as a sole source is poor work.

  The NWT uses the phrase "the christ" because that's what the Greek text says: ὁ χριστός. ho christos. The christ. The NWT is a semi-literal translation. It pays particular attention to definite articles. F. W. Franz usually translated anarthrous words with an indefinite article (a, an). In Koine Greek (Biblical Greek), a substantive without an article takes an indefinite article in English. Greek does not have indefinite articles. For clarity (and so you don't have to run to a dictionary) a substantive is a word that acts as a noun.

  ὁ χριστός (the christ) suggests that he was anointed in a particular sense, that he was the christ par excellence.
